Abstract:Objective To identify factors associated with life-space restriction in older stroke patients and to provide references for formulating personalized intervention measures. Methods A descriptive qualitative research was conducted.Fifteen older stroke patients were selected using purposive sampling.An interview outline was designed based on the Webber′s Comprehensive Mobility Framework, and semi-structured interviews were conducted.Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results Factors influencing life-space restriction in older stroke patients were identified, comprising five main themes and twelve sub-themes: cognitive, psychological, physical, socio-environmental, and financial factors. Conclusion The factors contributing to life-space restriction in older stroke patients are complex and multifaceted.Healthcare professionals should identify the risk factors for life-space restriction early on and develop multidimensional and individualized intervention strategies to help stroke patients expand their life-space, thereby enhancing their quality of life and social participation.
