Abstract:Objective To adapt the Nursing Student Satisfaction Scale (NSSS) into Chinese and test its reliability and validity among nursing students in China. Methods After obtaining authorization from the original scale developer, the scale was translated, back-translated, and cross-culturally adapted based on the Brislin model. A pre-survey was conducted to form the Chinese version of NSSS. A total of 547 nursing students from 2 universities in Zhenjiang were selected as participants using convenience sampling to verify the scale′s reliability and validity. Results The Chinese version of NSSS consisted of 28 items, covering three dimensions: professional social interaction (8 items), curriculum and teaching (13 items), and environment (7 items). The item-level content validity index (I-CVI) ranged from 0.875 to 1.000, and the scale-level content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.940. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) extracted 3 common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 71.311%. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) indicated that the first-order three-factor model fitted well (χ2/df=2.856, RMSEA=0.057, GFI=0.869, CFI=0.930, NFI=0.988, TLI=0.912). The overall Cronbach′s α coefficient of the scale was 0.944, the split-half reliability was 0.862, and the test-retest reliability was 0.917. Conclusion The Chinese version of NSSS has good reliability and validity, and it is suitable for evaluating the satisfaction of nursing students in China.
