Objective To systematically evaluate the real experiences of ICU nurses exposed to workplace violence, and to provide a reference for developing targeted prevention strategies. Methods A systematic search was conducted in domestic and international databases for qualitative studies on ICU nurses′ real experiences of workplace violence, with the search period from the inception of each database to December 2025.The JBI quality appraisal criteria for qualitative research were adopted for literature evaluation, and convergent meta-integration was used for data analysis and synthesis. Results A total of 7 studies were included.Twenty-nine research findings were extracted, which were further categorized into 9 categories and synthesized into 4 integrated findings:ICU nurses′ perceptions of workplace violence; the impact of workplace violence on ICU nurses; ICU nurses′ coping strategies for workplace violence; and ICU nurses′ needs and expectations regarding the prevention and management of workplace violence. Conclusion Workplace violence is prevalent among ICU nurses.More attention and zero-tolerance policy should be implemented.It is necessary to establish early warning and reporting mechanisms, and construct multi-level support and training systems to enhance nurses′ positive coping capacity and reduce adverse outcomes of workplace violence.
