Abstract:Objective To explore the potential categories of transition readiness among patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) during the transitional period, and to analyze the influencing factors of different potential categories to facilitate a smooth transition for patients. Methods A convenience sampling method was used. From June to October 2025, 415 IBD patients in transitional period admitted to four tertiary grade A hospitals in Shanghai were recruited. Then they were investigated by using a general information questionnaire, Chinese version of the Transition Readiness Scale for IBD Patients, the Patient Activation Measure, the Psychosocial Adjustment Scale for IBD Patient, the Health Information Seeking Behavior Scale, and the Family Assessment Device. Latent profile analysis was employed to classify patients based on their transition readiness. Multinomial logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore the characteristics associated with different latent classes. Results Three distinct classes of transition readiness were identified:the low readiness-dependent class (n=162, 39.0%), the moderate readiness-low efficacy class (n=185, 44.6%), and the high readiness-autonomous class (n=68, 16.4%). Multinomial logistic regression analysis revealed that, caregiver involvement in transition, patient activation, psychosocial adjustment, health information-seeking behavior, and family functioning were significant influencing factors to classes of transition readiness (all P<0.05). Conclusion Transition readiness among IBD patients in transitional period is heterogeneous. Healthcare professionals should assess patients′ transition readiness levels, develop stratified intervention strategies and implement precision management,so as to facilitate a successful transition.
