Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of an AI chatbot combined with narrative nursing intervention on job burnout, anxiety and depression levels, and occupational coping self-efficacy among emergency department (ED) nurses. Methods A dedicated AI chatbot was developed to provide support to 99 ED nurses, alongside narrative nursing intervention. The Maslach Burnout Inventory Human Service Survey, the Patient Health Questionnaire-4, and the Brief Occupational Coping Self-Efficacy Questionnaire for Nurses were administered by ED nurses before the intervention and three months after the intervention. Results After three months of intervention, ED nurses reported significantly lower job burnout, anxiety and depression, whereas significantly higher occupational self-efficacy (all P<0.05). Conclusion AI chatbot use combined with narrative nursing can effectively alleviate job burnout, and improve mental health status and occupational coping self-efficacy among ED nurses.
