Abstract:Objective To develop the Family Intergenerational Support Scale for Older Adults′ Use of Digital Health Technology and to test its reliability and validity. Methods Grounded in intergenerational support theory and incorporating the concept of digital backfeeding, the initial item pool was formulated through literature review and semi-structured interviews, and then a preliminary scale was formed after two rounds of expert consultation.A convenience sample of 479 older adults in Nanjing was surveyed to evaluate the scale′s psychometric properties. Results A total of 456 older adults completed the survey. The final scale consisted of 15 items across four dimensions: access support, use support, security support, and emotional support, explaining 82.297% of the total variance.Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated acceptable model fit (χ2/df=2.833, RMSEA=0.085, CFI=0.951, IFI=0.951, TLI=0.939, NFI=0.927).The scale-level content validity index (S-CVI/Ave) was 0.933.The Cronbach′s α coefficient for the total scale was 0.946, the split-half reliability was 0.888, and the test-retest reliability was 0.900. Conclusion The scale is valid and reliable for assessing family intergenerational support among older adults using digital health technologies.
